- After days of searching for the sinking of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine, it was finally found.

According to information from the KRI Nanggala-402, this ship sank at a depth of 838 meters below sea level in the waters of the northern Bali sea. Singapore's MV Swift Rescue in its search has found the sunken submarine KRI Nanggala-402.

According to a submarine expert from the Institute of Technology, he explained that there were 3 factors that caused the sinking of KRI Nanggala-402 with a depth of 838 meters.

Of the three factors is the malfunction of the air ballast which functions to regulate the dive height of the ship. And the malfunctioning of the hydroplane or wing on the part of the ship and the damage to the Pressure Hull which made the ship finally destroyed due to the large water pressure.

"KRI Nanggala-402 was destroyed due to the pressure hull being pressed with a high pressure 4 times greater, so that the pressure hull was broken," he said to CNNIndonesia.com via telephone (27/04/21).

The German-made KRI Nanggala-402 submarine is a fairly old submarine, approximately 40 years old. In the 80s the KRI Nanggala-402 was designed to only dive at a depth of 300 meters. However, due to the increasing age of the ship, it can only be predicted that the submarine can only dive at a depth of 200 meters.

The discovery of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine at a depth of 838 meters above sea level with the condition of being split into 3 parts.

Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (Kasal) Laksmana Yudo Margono (25/4), stated that the KRI Nanggala-402 was found split into three parts. This is based on the scan results from KRI Rigel assisted by MV Swift Rescue who issued the ROV.

Due to this disaster the crew of KRI Nanggala-402, totaling 53 people, died. This is explained based on authentic evidence which states that the KRI Nanggala-402 has sunk and the entire crew has died.

The cause of the sinking of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine was also explained by the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono that the sinking of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine which sank in Bali waters was due to natural factors. In a press conference held in Badung, Bali on Sunday (25/4), Laksamana Yudo Margono said "I believe this is not a human error but rather a natural factor".

Of the various factors circulating the cause of the sinking of the KRI Nanggala-402, it is not yet certain the main cause that caused this ship to sink. Everything is still being carried out by the evacuation process in order to get more accurate information. However, it can be concluded from the causal factors that have been described above are part of the cause of this ship sinking.
